BUYER GUIDE

When is retention consulting useful?
It fits a team with a specific question about first value or repeat use. Start with the decision you need to make: where users struggle, which behavior matters, or what to test next.
What does the diagnosis examine?
The review connects the live product journey with event data, research, and team assumptions. It examines friction, motivation, progression, return triggers, and whether tracking can support the decision.
How does the work proceed?
Define the question and success signal first. Check event definitions, then compare relevant funnels, user groups, or variants. Separate findings from assumptions before choosing the next test or measurement step.
What does the client provide?
For Interactive Catalyst’s Retention Signal Review, inputs include one retention question, the main journey, and the product’s value action. Share aggregated funnel or cohort data, event definitions, and known tracking gaps. Personal user data and credentials are not required.
What does the team receive?
Interactive Catalyst’s review produces a written decision statement, a signal map, and up to three ranked findings. It states data limits and recommends the next test. A calculator scenario is included when the available inputs support it.
Does a diagnosis include implementation?
A diagnosis gives the team a shared priority and a test it can run. Agree on implementation responsibilities separately. The recommendation should make clear what changes, who owns the work, and which evidence will guide the decision.
How should the team measure progress?
Define the event, user group, and natural return interval before testing. A daily-use app and a weekly-use app need different observation windows. Set a decision rule in advance, and state where tracking gaps limit what you can conclude.
